Melastiza chateri (W.G. Smith) Boud. Orange Cup. Cup 0.5–2cm across, saucer-shaped and sessile, inner surface vermillion orange, outer paler, covered in minute, downy brown hairs especially near the margin. Asci 300 x 15µ. Spores ellipsoid with coarse reticulation, 17–19 x 9–11µ. Habitat on bare sandy or gravelly soil. Season autumn to spring. Uncommon. Not edible. Distribution, America and Europe.
